Memory of SampsonStein

17 April, 2008 00:59

"My name is Brad Stein. I am running BOINC in memory of my son Sampson who passed away Aug 30, 2007 at the age of 18. He had some computers running BOINC but they are all FreeBSD(Sam's Op Sys of choice) and until I learn a little more about it I will start putting up computers with windows. Sam always wanted to help others so thats why I am continuing on for him.

I am also going to start naming the computers I add after other loved ones who have passed on. This way their memory can help help make this world a better place." --

That is a beautiful gesture and it is an honor for me to have you involved with our group.

new member movement!

15 April, 2008 08:55

Welcome Aidan!   As far as I can tell, you are the first with a 98' machine on this team crunching away at the chunks.  It will be interesting to watch the work-units from your box, curious.

Feel free to comment and say hi, and for everyone, you may reach me at einstein@extracted.org as a reminder.

For those of you wondering what the EINSTEIN@HOME Project is:

EINSTEIN@HOME is a program that uses your computer's idle time to search for spinning neutron stars (also called pulsars) using data from the LIGO and GEO gravitational wave detectors. EINSTEIN@HOME is a World Year of Physics 2005 project supported by the American Physical Society (APS) and by a number of international organizations.

My name is Andy Wright - the founder, but really the creator of Team FreeBSD. If you want me to add any links, or have any questions or inclinations for such things related to our group (or to just say hi) - send me an e-mail: einstein@extracted.org or Skype name: extracted

''It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure'' -- Albert Einstein
